Today in my first year seminar, talking about freedom we went back to the 1700 and 1800s to argue slavery. During our class there were two litigation teams who detailed and giving examples argued if slavery should stay or not. Each member of the team had to be person during that time and explain why they are with slavery or they oppose it. Throughout the entire session I learned that even though slavery is morally wrong and should not ever happen again. There were some strong arguments on the pro slavery side. I am more understanding why it took more time to be able to eradicate it. Economically speaking without slaves the cotton production would have not been as profitable and our markets would have not grown as they did.
